Rythmic Gymnastics: Another successful outing for the Gibraltar team, this time in Algeciras

The Gibraltar, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Association School participated, last Sunday 21st May 2006 at the III Torneo de Gimnasia Ritmica Ciudad de Algeciras at the provincial “B” level standard.
The competition was held at the Pabellon Municipal Ciudad de Algeciras.The competition attracted six schools/clubs from around the Campo de Gibraltar area. The teams were from Algeciras, La Linea, Tesorillo, Los Barrios and of course Gibraltar.
The Gibraltar schools entered 18 gymnasts that competed in the
following “B” level groups and Individual disciplines: Benjamin Free-Exercise, Alevin Free- Exercise, Infantil Ball, Junior Ball and JuvenilHoop.
The Gibraltar team, under the very capable hands of head Coach Sally Holmes,assistant coaches, Kaisa Bear and Lesley Vaughan, achieved a total of 8podium positions:
A fantastic (Gold Trophy) was won in the Individual Alevin Free- Exercise by Meaghan Chipol.
Second (Silver Trophy) in the Infantil Ball was won by Najade Sheriff.
Second (Silver Medal) in the Benjamin Group Free-Exercise, Sian Holmes, Olivia Jones, Shannon Victory, Christina Linares, Alexandra Ballantine.
Second (Silver Medal) in the Alevin Group Free-Exercise, Zhane Ferro,Sara Mc Mullen, Clare Whanon, Gabriella Lyden , and Eden Andrades.
Second (Silver Medal) in the Junior Group Ball, Lauren Murien, Naomi Sercombe, Arian Barton, Najade Sheriff, Candice Marsh.
Third (Bronze Trophy) in the Individual Benjamin Free-Exercise, was won by Sian Holmes.
Third (Bronze Trophy) in the Individual Infantil Ball won by Georgina Cassar.
Third (Bronze Trophy) in the Individual Juvenil Hoop won by Naomi
Sercombe.
These results, provides the Association’s gymnasts with the determination to affront next Saturday’s Gibraltar Championships that are to be held at the Tercentenary Sports Hall. With Teams from Northampton, Granada, Malaga, Chiclana, Alhaurin de la Torre, Palmones and La Linea all taking part. The competition starts at 10:30am. Entrance is free; gates will open at 10:00am.
The Association’s Committee is encouraging the general public that want to see good quality Rhythmic Gymnastics to come along and support the local girls.
