Charity walk: 1,800 people attend charity walk
Women, men and children walked for life on Saturday proving another record breaking year for the Gibraltar Branch Cancer Research UK.
This year the walk attracted 1,800 people.
The line of runners and walkers stretched out along Main Street and Queensway and back to Casemates.
Mother’s and father’s with prams, children on skates, and many walkers holding on to their pets, all proudly showed off their numbers, pinning the names of loved ones either in celebration or memory of, to their mainly pink t-shirts.
Familiar faces included Chief Minister Peter Caruana and his wife Christina, Mayor Beltran and his wife Sylvia who kick started the walk at 11am on the dot.
Minister Yvette del Agua and Opposition member Mari Montegriffo, having battled with cancer herself for the past year, Speaker of the House of Assembly Haresh Budhrani, and other local personalities, joined in this community event which on the day alone raised £14,800.
With monies still coming in the final figure is expected to be much higher.
