Rythmic Gymnastics: Another bronze medal this time from Granada
On Easter Saturday 15th April 2006 the Gibraltar Rhythmic Gymnastics
Association participated in the X Torneo de Gimnasia Ritmica in Granada. The event was held at the splendid Ciudad Deportiva Pabellon de Armilla, where the 2002 18th Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships where held.
Sixteen Gymnastic School/Clubs with over 130 gymnasts participated in five of the Rhythmic Gymnastics Individual disciplines:-
Free Exercises, Rope, Ball, Hoop and Clubs.
Teams from Granada, Cordoba, Malaga, Sevilla, Huelva, Marbella, Dos Hermanas, Sanlucar, Sancti Petri, Chiclana and Gibraltar took part in the events.
The Gibraltar Rhythmic Gymnastics Association participated with four
gymnasts of the “Copa de Andalucia “A” level, (Spanish National level
“B”) two in the infantil Free Exercises and two in the infantil Hoop.
Emma Vaughan (pictured with twin sister Chloe) won Bronze Medal (3rd place) in the infantil Hoop section out of nine competitors, a truly wonderful result.
Nicola Bosio came 4th in the infantil Free Exercise section out of twelve competitors.
Gabriella Gracia came 5th in the infantil Hoop section, out of nine competitors.
Chloe Vaughan (pictured with twin sister Emma) came sixth in the infantil Free Exercise section out of twelve competitors.
The Association’s Head Coach and Technical Director Sally Holmes was
delighted with this result, commenting that
“the competition’s standard was extremely high and that this result shows that we are there, that we haveShe was very pleased and happy with the girls and encourages them to continue working to achieve their full potential.
made it to compete at that level without any difficulty, allowing for, like in any other sports we can win or we can loose”.
