MedSAC – FIRST OUTING OF THE SEASON
The Mediterranean Shore Angling Club held its first outing of the 2006 season at the Detached Mole on Sunday 29 January. A total of 28 anglers turned up for the event on a wet and cold morning when the north-westerly wind proved the order of the day. Notwithstanding the fact that the minimum size limits have been increased, a total of 253 fish were brought to the scales compared with 210 at the equivalent competition last year. Comber and bronze bream were very much in abundance with a total of 76 and 36 for each species landed. 15 Common Sea bream were also captured, the heaviest by Arthur Asquez weighed in at 1.410 kg. Other notable catches were made by Michael Vella with a 0.980 kg Sheepshead Bream and by Alex Lopez with a 0.970 kg Common Sea Bream. Lawrence Sisarello achieved the highest points aggregate of the day with a total of 243 points followed by Arthur Asquez with 229 points.
