Snooker/Billiards/Pool : GBSA Team Snooker League – Round 6

While the rest of the world was preparing for the referendum, last Wednesday evening, the snooker fraternity around the Rock took to their cues and the green baize.

The entertainers go marching on!

In the south district, in Jumper’s Bastion, Team Queensway put up a spirited defence, and had some very close calls, but still went down five nil to the league leaders, barentertainment.net.

Kevin Dobson was beaten 11-74 by Francis Becerra and Kevin Dalli won then lost his frame 42-52, on the black ball, to Laurence Sisarello.

Tom Rooney lost to Yewhung Chin 35-66 and Peter de la Rosa went down 26-62 to Julian McGrail. Captains Eddie Newton and Sean Galligan played a cat and mouse of a frame; with Sean always edging away. Eventually Sean cleared up in bits and pieces to come away victor by 87-45 (a total of 132 points).

Sean was voted the entertainer’s man-of-the-match and Eddie the Queensway’s star man. Six points for barentertainment.net.

Due to unforeseen circumstances The Gibraltar Service Police’s ‘home’ game was played away. However, again, despite some close calls St Bernard’s Heineken managed to win by four frames to one.

The sting in the tail came when the Astoria’s star man, Keith Correa, beat Ian McIntosh by just 37 to 32, in a very close, black ball game. Five points to the Cue Ball!
