Snooker/Billiards/Pool: Round three of 06-07 season

After just three games the champions are back on top! Playing in the Service Police Social Club in Rooke, barentertainment.net won by five frames to nil.

Leslie Bruzon lost to Yewhung Chin, again the entertainers Man-of-the-match, by 31 - 68 and Brian Etherington, on his return the police star man, was beaten 36-55 by Francis Becerra.

Captain Alfred Becerra went down 27-47 to captain Sean Galligan and Ivan Viñales lost 20-67 to Laurence Sisarello. Chris Durante lost the fifth frame 8-54 to Julian McGrail.
Six points to the entertainers.


The Cue Ball turned St Bernard’s over four frames to one. Jonathan Collado beat, the saint’s star man, Adrian Holmes 53-28 and Chris Schimidzu, the Cue Ball’s Man-of-the-Match, beat Mukesh Bakhru 60-17. Dylan Alvez lost to Les Moore by 26-54 and Lee Wheatley beat Adrian Wink 68-39. Ernest Clinton clinched the fifth point beating Harry Ward by 69-23.
Five points to the Cue Ball.

Quick-starters Team Queensway stuttered again, going down one frame to four against the Med Rowing Club. Kevin Dalli lost a good lead and then the frame on the black ball by 42-49 to Henry Vinet.

Kevin Dobson played a magnificent frame to still lead after several terrible snookers. However Peter Valarino went on the take the black ball and the frame 54-48. Merv Padmore was outgunned by Man-of-the-Match, Nicky Gonzalez 37-94, in a high-scoring frame. Peter de la Rosa then beat John Joe Alvez 46 - 4 and then Tom Rooney lost his lead to Peter Buttigieg senior who proceeded to take the last four colours, one at a time, to win 53-41.
Five good points for the Med.


The local derby up on Flat Bastion went right to the wire. Brian Carcia started with a great captain’s win over Henry Bear by 66 to 28 only for Antonio Cavilla to level by beating Allaine Navarro 38 to 27. Elio Monteverde followed his captain to beat Albert Goldwin 59 to 37 and take a two one lead.

Kean Olivero stepped up to the plate and levelled the score s at two all, beating Paco Rumbado 62-15.

The decider happened slowly but inexorably as Dougie Cooper took the extra point for the A team beating Errol Bolaños convincingly 62-15.
Four points and fourth place for the Astoria A team!

Round 2 : GBSA Team Snooker League
Wednesday 1st November: the fourth round of games in the team snooker league.
All are welcome to come and watch, but please check with each venue about conditions of admission.

Game 1. League leader’s barentertainment.net take on The Astoria A team, at their home venue in the Cue Ball on Devils Tower Road.
Game 2. Up on Flat Bastion Road, in the Astoria R&F Club, the Astoria Too team welcomes the Cue Ball.
Game 3. Team Queensway plays St Bernard’s in the Snook down in Jumpers Bastion.
Game 4. Finally, in the harbour, the Mediterranean Rowing Club hosts the Gibraltar Service Police.

Captains are reminded that scoresheets must be returned to the association secretary on Thursday.

Team Registration Sheets
These sheets should be with the association secretary. Registration fees for players and teams are also due.

The St Bernard’s Open Snooker Tournament
This competition, sponsored by Famous Grouse from Anglo Hispano, started last Monday.

The first round will take the next two weeks, with the final due on Friday 8th December.

The organisers will attempt to contact each player with details and reminders but it is the responsibility of each and every player to know when and who they are playing. Postponements will only be considered at the request of both players. Any further information from Eddie Newton or St Bernard’s Club 78188.
