Golf: The Kowloon & Hong Kong restaurants trophy

The latest Med Golf competition on the 2nd April moved along the coast to Cabopino, where our local Chinese restaurants the Kowloon and Hong Kong were the sponsors. They welcomed over 50 golfers on a beautiful sunny day and winning the trophy in a very close finish was Frank Samways. Frank, who also took the senior prize, now has his invitation to Valderrama in November for the Med Golf Masters and joins previous winners Louis Calvente, Denny To, Nicky Sanchez and Russ Crawford.

In a very close finish, John Cooper took second place and third spot went to Harry Chalet. Harry also collected a couple of the nearest the pin prizes. In the ladies section, Joan Maxwell was the overall winner and also had the best score on the par 3’s. The top team pairing was Peter Warren and George Lee with Martyn Brown being the “star quality” player. The best round of the day went to Dan Aldridge with a fine score of 76 and other nearest the pin prizes were won by Karen Surtees and sponsor Denny To, with Mathias Grotzke winning the longest drive competition.

Med Golf members still have ten chances to secure their place at Valderrama , with the next competition being the Volvo Marbella trophy, kindly sponsored by Bassadone Motors. This is at Mijas on Sunday 30th April and tee times can be booked on the web site www.teetimespain.com or by ringing Johnathan Goodson on 0034-639741886.You can also get the full tournament schedule or how to join Med Golf from the web site or by ringing Johnathan.

Another note for the diary is the bank holiday weekend at the end May, where Med Golf have organised their third Morocco tour. Departing on Friday evening 26th May and returning Sunday evening 28th May, the price includes fast ferry transfer to Ceuta, all coach transfers, half board at the superb 5-star Sofitel Hotel in Marina Smir and two rounds of golf at Cabo Negro, playing for the Aage Hempel Marine Electronics trophy. Non-golfers and children are welcome and further details can be found on the web site or by ringing Johnathan Goodson.
